The fire started around 2:40 a.m., Friday, Nov. 22 in Cedarhurst when Nassau County Police called the Lawrence Cedarhurst Fire Department reporting smoke coming from the building.
The building, located at 604 Central Avenue, is home to a yogurt and ice cream store, a dry cleaner, pharmacy, and a pizza restaurant.
Officers responded to the building within minutes and were met by an employee who opened one of the businesses.
Firefighters found that the fire had spread to the basement area of the building, causing the fire to spread to all stores, Nassau County Police said.
All of the businesses received heavy damage.
Lawrence/Cedarhurst Fire Department was assisted by Woodmere, Inwood, Hewlett, Long Beach, Valley Stream, Meadowmere Park, Lynbrook, Hempstead, Atlantic Beach, Elmont, Rockville Centre, Freeport, Oceanside, Roosevelt, Baldwin, Malverne, East Rockaway, and Lakeview fire department.
The Nassau County Fire Marshall and Arson/Bomb Squad detectives also responded.
There were no reported injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
